Q: Your two-piece skins are crazy cool. What shapes are available and which ones will be available in the not-too-distant future?

 

A: We are currently producing two-piece skins for the following guitar models:

 

 

 

 

 

At some point, we may consider releasing two-piece skins for a Fender Strat and a Fender Tele, however, the issue is that the two-piece skins are not really designed for guitars with pickguards. In our tests we conducted, the skins will work, but the final look is not nearly as good as the models we are producing for right now due to the pickguard. The ridge from the pickguard leaves some gaps and that may bother the customer.

 

The idea behind the two-piece skins is not a permanent solution; they're meant to allow the guitarist the opportunity to change the look of the guitar quickly, and in a semi-permanent way. When they feel like removing it, they can and the skins come off and can be reused at a later time.

 

The models we have chosen to produce two-piece skins for are based on the number of skins we currently sell to owners of those models. The guitar is at the price-point we believe is the right target for the two-piece skins. If the demand is there, we will certainly consider producing two-piece skins for other models like a V or an SG model.

 

 

Q: Why are the decals not cut to specific body shapes?

 

A: for people who want a skin pre-cut, we offer the two-piece skins, and in the not-too-distant future, we will offer a pre-cut skin as an option when purchasing.

 

 

Q: What does it cost for a custom skin design?

 

A: That depends whether I'm modifying an existing design or creating something from scratch. The price is obviously higher if we're creating something from scratch. What that price is depends on how complex the design is. In order for us to give you an estimate on price, check out our CUSTOM SHOP page and you can send us a message outlining what you have in mind. You can also upload an image to us so we can see what you have in mind.

 

Custom work can be as low as $20 and can go as high as $2000. It all depends on the complexity of the art we are producing.

 

 

Q: How long does it take for my skin to arrive?

 

A: Well, that depends where you live. What I do want to stress is - we do not sell widgets; what we offer is custom guitar skins/decals that are only printed when the customer places the order. Before a decal can be printed, we have to place the design into a template for that guitar shape to make sure everything lines up and works perfectly. Once we determine everything's good to go, we send the design to the printer. However, to keep prices low, at least 10 decals all have to be printed at once to reduce vinyl waste and to reduce cost. So, typically, a decal doesn't get printed for at least 3-5 days. Once it's printed, it gets shipped back to us. From there, we print your shipping label and it's then shipped off to you. The whole process can be anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks or more - depending where you live. If you're not good with waiting, you can always see if there's someone else who can offer what we do... but, we highly doubt it.

 

 

Q: I have a design I created that I want you to make into a skin for me. What will it cost?

 

A: You can take your design and go to any printing house and have them turn it into a decal for you. That's what we do. We don't print them ourself. We have a company that does it for us. If you've already got your design, then you don't need us.

 

 

Q: Can clear coat be put over the skins?

 

A: Of course! That's what I highly recommend. The HOW TO guide will take you through all of the steps you need to know in order to apply the skin and trim. As for the clearcoating and the finishing steps, we recommend the PAINT YOUR OWN GUITAR book series to show you how to do that to get awesome results.

 

 

Q: Do I have to clear coat over the skins?

 

A: Not at all. You can apply and just leave them. There's a protective coating that's on the skins, however, it's still easy to ding them and to wear them down by rubbing your arm on them, so just be aware of that. Putting a clear coat over top is recommended.

 

 

Q: Can I get a logo on the headstock piece?

 

A: Yes - not a problem. We'll include that for an additional $10.00. If you already have a logo you want to use, that can be used, too. There's still a $10.00 charge for that as we have to go in and modify the headstock file for you.

 

 

Q: Where did you get the flamed maple pattern? Is it a photograph?

 

A: Nope - it's not a photograph. We recreate all patterns and designs ourselves. The flamed maple decals are derived from one of the BEST flamed maple finishes we've ever seen. After many hours,we were able to recreate the flame pattern and get it as close as possible. In many ways, it's as good as any flamed top you'll see.

 

 

Q: If I buy a top and bottom skin, are they the same or different?

 

A: The skins are rectangular with room on them to move and rotate as you want. So, it's really up to you whether you want the bottom to look the same as the top. It doesn't have to if you don't want it to.

 

 

Q: I love your designs but I'm afraid I won't be able to do this myself. Can you do it for me?

 

A: We're looking into hiring someone that can run an INZANE production department so we can offer that service.
